Jimmy Turner

Trial by Flower

Free Alston Lecture
Tuesday, August 6
7 p.m.

Take a humorous and informative tour of the Dallas Arboretum & Botanical Garden's Trial Program with the fast-talking and funny Jimmy Turner Sr., the Director of the Gardens. Turner will share his favorite new (and a few underused) annuals, perennials, shrubs, trees and grasses for the southern gardener.

Each year, more than 7,000 varieties of plants are subjected to the brutal Texas climate at the Dallas Arboretum Trial Gardens in hopes of winning the pinnacle of heat tolerance award, "FlameProof."  The motto of his Trial Gardens is "If We Can't Kill It No One Can!," so learn about some of the newest, coolest and toughest plants alive!

The Philip and Elkin Alston Lecture Series is made possible by the generous support of the Charles Loridans Foundation. Admission to the lecture is free, and no reservations are required.
