Gnetum gnemon

Select a month and plant to see what's in bloom this season at the Atlanta Botanical Garden.

Gnetum gnemon

Gnetums occur in both the old and new world tropics and grow as both trees and climbing vines. The leaves of both the Asian and African species are prepared as a cooked vegetable, while in Southeast Asia the fruits are cooked and eaten like popcorn.
