The Wallflowers Bio
Having started in 1989 in Los Angeles’ clubs, The Wallflowers developed a sound influenced by a variety of performers including the Counting Crows, Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello and Tom Petty. Its 1996 release Bringing Down the Horse went platinum four times, and two years later the band won two Grammys , one for Best Performance by a Duo or Group for “One Headlight” and for Best Rock Song. In 1997 “One Headlight” was the number one video on VH1 and the number five on MTV. Success followed with the hit song/video “Heroes.”
The band has played Saturday Night Live, featuring the songs “Sleepwalker” and “Hand Me Down,” and toured with Tom Petty and John Mellencamp. In April 2008, for the first time ever The Wallflowers appeared as a trio, and member Jakob Dylan released his first solo album, Seeing Things, last June.
